It's Official...

We have our officiant! It feels great to have something (anything!) to check off the list. Nevermind that there is no date yet.

I always knew who I wanted to officiate my wedding. I was looking for someone who has presence, who shares my spiritual values, and who will really stick to what we want. My choice, Pam is my former youth pastor at my parents' church. Now she teaches the young couples class that the fiance and I are lucky enough to be able to sit in on when we are in town.

In the past I never really considered the officiant to be such an important part of the wedding. That is, until the last wedding I went to where the pastor forgot to announce the kiss! The couple had practiced a wonderful kiss for days and then at their wedding they had to give each other an awkward unannounced peck. This same pastor kept telling bad jokes too. At that point I realized that I needed someone who is articulate and thoughtful leading my ceremony.
